Head and Neck Tumor Center

Welcome!

In many patients, tumors in the head and neck region are detected late, because they can initially grow unnoticed and rarely lead to symptoms early on. Complex treatment, such as that offered at our university center, is then often necessary when the tumor reaches an advanced stage. In addition, it is important to detect tumors at an early stage, which is a diagnostic challenge. This can be accomplished through an interdisciplinary approach in a specialized center.

To meet this demand, the interdisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Center has made progress in recent years. Since 2007, the NCT/UCC has been certified by Deutsche Krebshilfe (DKH) as an Oncological Center of Excellence for the treatment of cancer. In 2019, the Head and Neck Tumor Center at the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC) was established as an organ cancer center.

The Head and Neck Tumor Center at the NCT/UCC Dresden meets the quality criteria set by the German Cancer Society (DKG) and is a DKG-recommended head and neck tumor center. In addition, it has a certified quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.

The aim of the Head and Neck Tumor Center is to offer patients with tumor diseases in this area optimal diagnostics, personalized treatment and aftercare in line with the latest medical knowledge. Through close cooperation between the various departments, consisting of an interdisciplinary team of experts from the fields of otorhinolaryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, radiotherapy, pathology, radiology and hematology/oncology, we ensure optimal, interdisciplinary, personalized therapy at the highest medical level, and create individual concepts based on the latest scientific findings.

We, the team of the Head and Neck Tumor Center, will accompany you on your journey from diagnostics to therapy to aftercare, and are always available to advise you.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Thomas Zahnert                              Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Günter Lauer
