Research structure
The National Center for Tumor Diseases is devoted to modern, personalized cancer treatment. The aim is to optimally tailor the entire treatment to the individual patient. After all, cancer is a disease unique to each individual and thus requires tailor-made therapies.
Three main research fields are particularly in focus:
(1) Precision Local Therapy and Image-Guidance, subdivided into Radiation Oncology and Surgical Oncology
(2) Immunotherapy
(3) Molecular Stratification
In addition to these three main priority areas, Pediatric Oncology and Cancer Prevention build research programs across the priority areas.
Patient-oriented Clinical Cancer Research Programs - primarily defined by specific groups of tumor types - ensure the efficient and continuous transfer of interdisciplinary, personalized and innovative findings from bench to bedside and back.
A wide variety of infrastructure and services – including central core units for molecular tumor diagnostics, Immunomonitoring, preclinical models and data management and analytics – can be used by all NCT members.
